(TE470) TECNA – Intelligent Welding Control for Hanging Resistance Welding Machines

CONTROL UNIT FOR RESISTANCE WELDING

Microprocessor control with double handle, 63 programmes, current adjustment and functions dedicated to overhead welders

The TE470 is a microprocessor-based welding controller designed to manage suspended resistance welders with precision and efficiency, typically used in industrial environments. Its main function is to regulate the components of the welder, particularly the controlled diodes (SCR) responsible for managing the welding current through synchronous phase control.

One of the distinguishing features of the TE470 is the integration of specific functions for use with suspended welders, such as automatic double stroke control (if supported by the welder) and efficiency check of the safety systems possibly present on the handle. The system is highly flexible: it does not include an integrated handle but allows the use of various types of handles, including the simultaneous connection of two active handles, thus adapting to various operational configurations and different production needs.

The TE470 allows you to store up to 63 welding programs, each of which can be configured with 19 or more programmable parameters that define the entire work cycle. Using an external selector, usually installed on the handle, it is possible to quickly recall 2 predefined programs, ensuring speed and convenience during production. Among the available functions within the programs are simple 4-step cycle, pre-weld, post-weld, slope (current ramp), and pulses, which allow precise adjustment of the welding based on the material and application.

The controller offers two operating modes: conventional and constant current. In both modes, you can view in real-time the welding current (in kA) and the corresponding conduction angle, with the possibility of setting threshold limits for more accurate quality control. In addition, there is an incremental function to compensate for electrode wear, managed through a programmable curve, as well as a weld counter.

Programming is quick and easy, thanks to a 5-key keypad and an alphanumeric LCD display, which makes the user interface intuitive even for non-expert operators. Additional features include the WELD / NO WELD function, first insertion delay adjustment (to optimize load balancing on the network), and the possibility to select the system language among Italian, English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Hungarian, and Swedish.

Regarding external interfacing, the TE470 is equipped with protected outputs for 2 solenoid valves 24 Vdc (max 7W): one for electrode closure and the other for double stroke management. The device automatically adapts to the mains frequency (50/60 Hz) and supports data communication via RS485, making it compatible with supervision and industrial automation systems. A password function to lock programming is also provided, ensuring protection of settings from unauthorized changes.

In summary, the TE470 represents a complete, reliable and versatile solution for the control of suspended welding tongs, combining high process customization, operational safety, ease of use, and integration with complex industrial systems. Ideal for those seeking a high-performance welding controller that is configurable and ready for the challenges of modern production.
