Automatic Stud Welding Machine for Industrial Production – Series T

AUTOMATIC WELDING BENCHES

High-precision automated stud welding system for studs up to 12 mm, with flexible configuration, DXF programming, process monitoring and technical support from ATS Lamberti.

Automation, precision and repeatable weld quality are essential for manufacturers looking to improve productivity while maintaining consistently high standards. The Series T automatic stud welding machine has been developed to deliver reliable automated stud welding across a wide range of industrial applications, combining high positioning accuracy with flexible configuration options. Rather than manufacturing the equipment, ATS Lamberti supplies the solution together with technical consultancy, application support and after-sales assistance, helping customers select the most suitable system for their production requirements.

Built for demanding production environments, the Series T is suitable for industries including automotive, sheet metal fabrication, electrical engineering, HVAC, appliance manufacturing, metal furniture and general industrial production. The machine is available with working areas of 800 × 800 mm or 1300 × 800 mm, while bespoke dimensions can be supplied for specialised manufacturing projects. Every automatic welding head can access the entire working area, allowing complex welding programmes to be completed without repositioning the component.

Whether the application requires capacitor discharge stud welding, drawn arc stud welding or short-cycle stud welding, the Series T provides a versatile platform capable of handling stud diameters from 3 mm up to 12 mm. Special fastening elements and alternative diameters can also be accommodated where required. Depending on the production layout, the system can be configured with up to three automatic welding heads, enabling higher output and greater manufacturing efficiency. When a milling unit is incorporated, the machine is designed to operate with up to two welding heads.

Speed alone is not enough in automated manufacturing. Consistent positioning accuracy is equally important, particularly when producing high-value components. Premium linear guide systems, precision ball screw or belt-driven axes and dynamic servo motors allow the Series T to achieve positioning repeatability of ±0.2 mm, while X and Y axis travel speeds reach up to 12 metres per minute. This combination enables rapid production without compromising weld quality.

Ease of use has been carefully considered throughout the machine design. The electrical cabinet is integrated directly into the welded steel frame, providing excellent accessibility for operators while reducing the overall footprint. Pneumatic clamping devices can be positioned wherever required on the machine table, making the system suitable for components with different shapes, dimensions and production batches. Aluminium T-slot plates combined with laminated insulation panels offer both electrical insulation and long-term wear resistance.

Reducing downtime is another key advantage of the Series T. The machine incorporates a quick-change welding head system, freely adjustable zero-point settings, automatic re-weld functionality with programme continuation and short setup times between production runs. These features make the equipment particularly attractive for manufacturers producing both large production volumes and smaller mixed batches.

Programming is managed through the PRO-STUD software platform, designed to simplify even complex welding operations. CAD drawings can be imported directly using the integrated DXF converter, allowing customer files to be automatically converted into machine programmes with visual confirmation of the complete welding sequence. An industrial PC running Windows 10, equipped with a 17-inch monitor, ergonomic keyboard and mouse, provides intuitive operation, while an optional touchscreen interface is available for even greater convenience.

Quality assurance is integrated into every welding cycle. When combined with PRO-C, PRO-I or PRO-D stud welding units, the system records welding current, welding time and arc voltage for every individual weld. Where automatic welding heads equipped with travel measurement are installed, additional parameters including stud lift, piston movement and immersion depth are monitored continuously. Actual process data are automatically compared with predefined reference values, enabling the machine to generate warnings or temporarily stop production whenever specified tolerances are exceeded. The latest welding parameter sets are stored automatically, while an optional memory module allows up to 16,000 fully documented welding records, complete with date and time, to be archived and transferred to a PC via USB.

An integrated automatic stud feeding system helps maximise productivity by reducing manual intervention and ensuring a continuous supply of welding studs throughout the production cycle. Internal slide assemblies protected by sealed cover strips prevent welding spatter, smoke and dust from damaging critical drive components, contributing to longer service life and reduced maintenance requirements.

Operator safety remains a priority throughout machine operation. The Series T can be supplied with either a light curtain safety system or protective guarding incorporating sliding, folding or vertically lifting access doors, with pneumatic operation available where required. For production environments where noise reduction is important, an enclosed acoustic housing can also be specified.

The machine is compatible with KHA-200F automatic welding heads, featuring integrated travel measurement technology, as well as KKA-200F welding heads. It supports PRO-C 1000/1500 capacitor discharge welding equipment together with PRO-I 1300/2200 and PRO-D 1600 systems for drawn arc and short-cycle stud welding, allowing manufacturers to configure the solution according to their preferred welding process.

Operation requires a 400 V / 50 Hz / 16 A electrical supply together with clean, dry, oil-free compressed air at a minimum pressure of 6 bar, ensuring reliable performance under continuous production conditions.

Rather than simply supplying machinery, ATS Lamberti works alongside manufacturers to identify the most appropriate automatic stud welding solution for each application. From technical consultation and equipment selection through to installation support and after-sales assistance, the objective is to help customers improve productivity, maintain consistent weld quality and integrate reliable stud welding technology into modern manufacturing processes.
